At a meeting of the Wellington Education Board a letter was received from the Director oi Education (Mr. J. Caughley) stating that the department was quite in sympathy with the board’s desire for synchronisation of holidays throughout the Dominion. It was solely with that object that the suggested scheme oi dates tor terms and vacations was issued in the ‘last two years. So much misunderstanding with regard to the department’s action had been shown to exist, however, that the issue of the suggested synchronisation scheme had been abandoned for this year.
