ST. ANDREW’S ORCHESTRA.

AN ENJOYABLE CONCERT. St. Andrew orchestra’s third, and final, concea’t for 1925 was held in St. Andrew’s Hall ,Hastings, last night when, notwithstanding the numerous other attractions, a reasonably large and very appreciative audience assembled for the occasion. The orchestra, through modesty has, quite evidently, deprived the general public of a great deal of pleasure, judging by the manner in which the, for the most part, juvenile performers responded to the baton of their conductor, Mr. Donald Parkin, last night, and bv the vivacity and spirit that they infused into their work. The performance of these young people was genuinely and deservedly applauded by the audience and one felt a desire to hear more from them, as undoubtedly one will in due course. They played “A Musical Muddle,” “In a Ciinoe,” “Star of the Orient,” “Marcheta,” “In Old Japan,” “A Japanese Sunset." and “A Life on the Ocean Wave,” quite a delightful collection of light music.” Miss Campbell sang “Love’s Fadeless Rose,’’ Mr. Rogers contributing “Rose of my Life,” Mr. Alan Bullen “Song of the Boatmen on the Volga,” and Mr. A. 1.. Baumgart a humorous number. “The Extra Special Constable.’’ whilst a vocal duct, “Till Dawn," was contributed by Mrs. Parkin and Mr. N. J. Adamson, and a trio bv Misses Ellie Flowers. Kathleen' Herbison and Mary Lindsay. Mr. Abbott showed the paces of the bassoon io perfection in a. number entitled “Lucv Long,” and an enjoyable* little concert concluded with * the National Anthem.
