CHARGE AGAINST MOTORIST. Auckland, Doe. 9. Ronald Gordon Frankham. aged 27, was charged with nogligentv' driving n mrrfor car on tho night of November 12, causing the death of Oscar Frederick Swanson, and further, that ho did commit manslaughter. Norman Gregory Swanson stated that about 11.30 p.m. on November 12 bo was going homo with Hector Flanagan. George Smith and witness’s brother, deceased. Thev wore walking fairlv close together. Witness, glancing round, saw a motor car behind ’nd jumped forward. Tho next moment ho was on the ground and saw tho roar part nF ihe car bumping over his Iwothor. Wifnncs took the number of Hie car. which then had no lights. Tin did not nhsprvr wbnthor 't had lights '‘ r nro the accident. No horn was sounded. Hector Arnold Flanagan said that the car travelled about 14 or 15 yards .after the impact. Tho deceased was carried apparently seven yards. Witness identified ihp accused as the driver of the oar. Tho driver mentioned io wilness that liis lights had gone out. and that ho had boon looking l'<>r the police, expecting them io report. There was a man and two women in tho car besides the driver. Tho accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial.
