AUCKLAND INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.
REQUESTS TO GOVERNMENT (Per Press Association.) Auckland, Nov. 3. The Industrial Association has decided to request the Government to give attention to adjusting the duty on all low valued imported tweeds, suits and costumes with a view to protecting Dominion industry. The resolution is tha outcome of a complaint that shoddy tweeds and clothing are being imported to the detriment of local trade. The association also resolved to ask the Minister of \ Railways if he .would arrange for special trains on the lines of the Reso service now run in Victoria. These trains make special trips to' various centres, allowing manufacturers and others to become acquainted with industrial progress throughout the country, the association’s idea being that special accommodation be added for travelling exhibits of Dominion industries. The Reso train service, it was explained, ran at night, and during the day travellers, selected for their prominence in various industries, visited places of industrial or agricultural interest. A booklet was issued giving comprehensive information concerning the districts to be visited and their resources.
