DE VALERA SENT TO PRISON. REFUSAL TO PLEAD. DEFIANCE OF GOVERNMENT ORDER. London, Nov. 1, De Valera at Belfast was sentenced te a month’s imprisonment in tho second division for entering North Ire land in contravention of a Government order. The prosecutor said the order of the Home Secretary, under the Civil Authorities Powers Act was served on de Valera on October 25 at the Adavoyle railway station prohibiting him fronx entering the polling areas of North Island, but dp Valera was seen th o following evening and arrested. De Valera declined to pie Ad, hot recognising the authority of the Court, which he declared wa R the creature- of a foreign power and 'therefore not sanctioned by the Irish people. The resident Magistrate said he was unable to allow a political speech winch was a mere cloak for contempt of Court.—(Reuter). CORK CITY COUNCIL DISSOLVED. „ London, Oct. 31.
