HEAVY GALE ON WEST COAST.
SEAMAN WASHED OVERBOARD. Wanganui, Nov. 1Advice has been received by the agents hero that the Port Caroline encountered a heavy gale last night on her way to Wanganui and a seaman was washed overboard. A boat was put out to rescue him, but it was unsuccessful and after terrible buffeting took three hours to get back to the ship. The Port Garonne is due here this afternoon.
