Peace Negotiations OVERTURES FROM WU PROPOSALS TO FENG AND CHANG. r ßy Cable—Preu Association—l (Received 1. 8.50 a.m.) Pekin; Oct. 30. The North China “Daily News” reports that at Tientsin Wu Pei-fu instructed big representative to open negotiations with Feng Y’uh-siang and Chang Tao-lin. The basis of the discussion proposed by Wu Pei-fu is that Chang Tso-lin witlidraw to Manchuria and acknowledge the authority of the Central Government, and that all parties agree to return to thd status quo.— (A. and N.Z) WU DECISIVETiY DEFEATED. IN A PERILOUS POSITION. Pekin. Oct. 30. The defeat of Wu Pei-fu’s army on tho Shan-kai-kwam front, was of a derisive nature, with Feug Yuh-siamz’s forces barring the roatj td Pekin. The Hankow-Pekin lin© was cut. and Oliang Tso-lin’s divisions are coming on rapidly to Tientsin. Wu Pei-fu is now in a perilous post tion. He has decided to face Chang Tso-lin’s pursuing army from Shan-kai: kwan, and ig preparing for a battle at Lutai to defend Tientsin 40 miles off. -(A. and N.Z.)
