A salvage steamer is being despatched from Perim to assist the Trecarrel which was reported from Aden as being stranded a mile and a half off shore near Cape Guardafui, on the coast of Italian Somaliland.
Castiglioni, ex-Premier of the Vienna Deposit bank, who has been ordered to appear in court, has been located in Trieste. He indignantly denies flight, stating that he is engaged in important financial transactions and will return to Vienna when these are completed.
A New York cable states that many American manufacturers of wireless equipment have been inquiring into the possibilities of supplying the . Australian requirements and have received in. formation relative to the conditions, iThey approve the technical conditions imposed, especially regarding broadcasting, and are prepared to conform thereto. They were moved to take this interest in Australian wireless owing to the recent expansion of broadcasting lately in the Commonwealth,
The Marriage Amendment Bill is having a stormy passage in the New South Wales Legislative Council. The storm chiefly centres round the ne temere clause. Charges of sectarianism are a feature of the debate. Mr. Boyce, representative of the Government, in moving the second reading, said a similar bill had proved effective in New Zealand.
The secretary of the N.S.W. wheat pool states that the pool has effected heavy overseas sales at a price equivalent to 5s 5d a bushel at country stations.
The annual report of the N.S.W. Forestry Commission, tabled in the Assembly, shows that during the year ended June 30th., the total value of timber imported was £2,413,000 and exported £443,927. The principal import trade was with the United States, and export with New Zealand.

The outlook in the N.S.W. coal industry is gloomy. Eight collieries are now idle in defiance of the order of the Council of the Miners’ Federation that all collieries resume work pending arbitration.
