London, July 26. An amalgamation of considerable importance to the butter trade is announced. The Home Colonial Stores, Ltd., have acquired a substantial interest in th© Maypole Dairy Company. Details are not disclosed, but th© Home Colonial Company aro issuing 250,000 new £1 shares at 50s. It is understood tli© primary object of th© fusion of these important multiple shop companies is the elimination of competition. Both ar© large buyers of colonial butter and cheese.—(A. and N.Z.) Tli© Home and Colonial and the Maypole Dairy Companies together control th© retail trade of some hundreds of shops in London and the provinces, and are of interest to New Zealand bv reason of th© large quantities of butter and choose required in their business.
