LABOUR AT VARIANCE. (Received 29. 10.45 a.m.) Brisbane, July 29 Trouble has arisen in the ranks of the Labour Party over tho question of the. 44-hours week and State employees. At a caucus meeting Mr Theodore opposed tho abolition of a five per cent redue < tion in wages and a return to the 44hours week on account of the enormous cost.
A considerable disturbance occurred, during which Mr Theodore and the Cabinet resigned. Owing to the difficulty in forming a new Ministry it was decided that the old Cabinet should withdraw Io sen what could bo done in regard to the matters in dispute. On tho Cabinet’s return Mr Theodore again presided till the meeting ended. Matters have apparently simmered down, -but it is stated that tho possibiity of a crisis .-is not yet over.—TA. and N.Z.)
