What a poor little boy of the New York streets did to get one insignificant flower in a big private pait is one oi the many human incidents in “Children of Dust.” a First National picture, which is now screening at the Ccsy. When the little urchin’s mother oies, )ie goes out to get a flower for her- As he climbs the iron gates of Gramercy Park, the gruff old caretaker grabs him and beats him severely\Vhen Archer is imprisoned for the deed, the boy’s forgiveness and sympathy arouses a love and remoise in tne old chap’s soul- After his release, lie takes the boy as his own. The story is simple, but pulsates with life, as it is really lived. The old man is played with fine sensibility by Bert Woodruff, while the boy is done by Frankie Lee and later by Johnnie Walker. Pauline Garon, Lloyd Hughes. Geo. Nichols, and others make up the all-star cast. A fine series of pictures are shown in support. MUNICIPALIn “From the Ground Up,” a master picture, Tom Moore acts the role of Terence Giluley, “valet to a steam shovel,” who soon becomes a contractor and wins as his wife the daughter of the man who planned the giant skyscraper about which much of the action hinges- Helene Chadwick, who has appeared in a number of Rupert Hughes’s photoplays, is cast as Phiiina Mortimer, daughter of the buil er. and keeps that character always inter. suing- Others in the cast a.e De \Vitu C< Jennings, Frace Pike, Haruee Kiikland and Darrel Fuss. “Who are my Parents,’’ is a powerful story full oi human interest, in which is shown the lolly of parental interference where the heart is concerned. THE KING’S‘•The Broken Gate,” a Selznick released picture starring Bessie Baniocaie. commenced a three-night’s showing at the King’s Theatre last evening. The picturisation of the famous Emerson Hough novel of the same name has been handled in a c<ji>able manner, and presents one of the strongest stories ever seen on the screen. As Aurora Lane, Miss Barriscale’s characterisation reveals the sympathy and smieiity that are not often , io mid.
