ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
LADY TOURIST INJURED.
Hokitika, March 12. On Friday last two Christchurch ladies, Misses Harrison and Anderson, "ere at Welcome Hut in the Copeland Pass route awaiting the arrival of a. guide from the hermitage when the former lady, on leaving the hut to procure firewood fell and fractured both Lnee caps. On the arrival of the guide late at night it was found the injuries were serious and he made his way during an exceptionally dark and stormy night to Karangarua. twelve miles away over extremely heavy '•nuntrv with flooded creeks, arriving ••t daylight. Dr. Baird was telegraphed to-morrow at Hokitika bv Lady and the morning, arriving on Sundav night. He attended th© injured lady, who next morning was carried on a stretcher io Karangarua under difficult, conditions by relays of South Westland settlers. Next day she was taken in a dray to Waiho.
