AND RIGHTING THE FINANCES.

The Patangata- County. Council has had an anxious time during the past year in squaring its finances and ending the year without an overdraft in excess of the legal limit. The chairman reported at the County Council meeting yesterday that the position had been pulled up. They had about £5OO in.the bank and current rates outstanding amounted .to £4OOO, of which £l5OO were nativ© rates and could not b© counted on. Cp T. Butler considered that tho position still called for careful treatment. Th© chairman thought they had come out very well but <t had only been don© by starving some of the roads.

THE SALVATION ARMY. In the Salvation Army Hall at 8 p.m. to-morrow Adjutant Alackenzi© will deliver a thrilling address on “The Secret Rapture of th© Church and its Glorious Issues.” Ag the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is so dear to the Christian’s heart this service should be well attended. Th© Adjutant lias spent some years in prophetic study and invites all Christians to bring their Bibles with them so that they can follow the address according to the Scriptures. The Salvation Army .stands by th© whole Bible and accepts it in its verbal inspiration and revelation as tho inspired word of God.
