SWIMMING.

NEW 400 YARDS RECORD. Sydney, Nov. 18. Swimming over a 400 yards course Christie timed 4.57, beating Kieran’s record, which had held since 1005. TE AWA CLUB’S OPENING. The Te Awa Club officially opened its season on Saturday on the banks of the Tutaekuri. Mr L. Mcllvride, M.P., declared the season open, and complimented the club upon the improvements made to its grounds. Afternoon tea. was “served to the visitors, and sweets were supplied to the children. At the conclusion of the ceremony, it was announced that lady and gentlemen instructors had been appointed by the club to teach swimming during the season. A. Eddy won the open diving event, and Miss T. Lynch the breast stroke competition.
