A sensational accident befel John McNally ganger in charge of the Ran giora-Ashley section of the railway this evening. H© was crossing the Ashle.v river bridge on a jigger when he became aware of (the fact that he was being overtaken by the. passenger train to Christchurch. To save himself from being run down he threw himself over the bridge and the jigger also left the line. McNally fell 14 feet on to thv bed of the river. He was injured internally and removed to the Christchurch Hospital-
