MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM’S ( TOUR. Christchurch, Nov. 16. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council to-night Mr. J. S. Barrett was unanimously elected chairman. Nine challenges were received tor ; the Hawke Cup. It was decided to offer the first match to the Manawatu Association, and the second to the Waikato Association. The secretary said the sooner one cup was found for the North Island and one for the South , Island the better for cricket. It was decided not to make any alteration in the New Zealand Council’s colours. It was unanimously decided that Mr. Tucker, of Wellington, be appointed the selector for New Zealand teams for the coming season. Mr. J. F. Peake (secretary) reported on the arrangements made lor the visit of the New South Wales team in the coming season. As yet he had received no official word but had written to the Australian Board of Control asking them to confirm any arrangements made by Mr. Redpath, who has just returned "from Sydney. The Board of . Control would not sanction the visit of a private team. As had been seen -from the papers a team was coming md already ten applications for Hatches had been»received. As to ex<enses, he was of opinion that they ■ hould go back to the guarantee .system. The chairman: AA e wouldn t bo a party to any more tours on the “spec” system. . Continuing, Air. Peake said the U-l--22 tour had cost £1834. The team then consisted of 14 players while this ear here would be 13. AA orking on the expenses of the previous tour he had prepared estimates lor the cost of ..he coming tour. The team would be 31 days in New Zealand as against 68 in 1921-22 season. The boat fares would cost £224, as against £305, and allowances £471. against £476. The total estimated cost was £li9o. Any ■ extra profit would go back to the associations. He thought the team would he leaving Sydney on February 5. but ; had asked for the definite date of sailing. * “I think it would be a. week earlier - than that,” remarked Mr. Redpath, “as the Sheffield Shield matches finish about January 28.” It was decided that beyond affirming I the principle of the guarantee system 1 nothing definite could be settled ret gariling the tour until word had been ; received from Sydney and an itinerary ) had been drawn up. HAWKE’S BAY ASSOCIATION.

The Napier Technical College wrote to last evening’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association objecting to paying £lO to the Association in addition to £25 to the Borough Council for the use of grounds on Nelson Park. It was decided to inform the College that, if it desired to break away from the £lO agreement, the Association would admit its teams to the competitions under the same conditions as other clubsAfter the position of the Tomoana Club, which is'in debit to the Association to the extent of £3 18s, was considered, it was decided to debar all unfinancial members of that club from participation in this year’s games unt less their subscriptions are paid by November 30. After that date, disqualification will follow. An application for the registration / of its colours (red and black), was re- f ceived from the Hastings Club. ' It was pointed out that these colours were in use by another club. The secretary: Under our new rules, this application is in first. As other clubs might not be aware of the position, the letter was held over till November 30. Advice was received from the Napier Borough Council that the season’s rental for Nelson Park would be £l5O. * The secretary said that the estimated revenue for the season was £l7O. With £l5O to be paid to the Napier Borough Council, £5O to the Hastings Borough Council, and an existing debt of £4O. the Association would be well behind at the end of the season. It was decided to accept the Coun- 1 cil’s terms for the season, but to pro- I test against the .ever-increasing rent. ! It was decided to recommend to the management committee that a sole selector be appointed. A suggestion was made that a country week might be held to assist cricketers in the country districts. The secretary’s action, in entering a candidate for the Mardi' Grai? queen carnival was confirmed, and the matter was left to a sub-committee.
