RETURNED SOLDIERS’ SPORTS. > f Great, interest is being taken in the . forthcoming sports to be held under the auspices of the Taradale and dis- ' trict Returned Soldiers’ Association t’ Sports Club. Close on £5O in cash and > trophies has already been received in j aid of the object and the gathering promises to be one of the most, success3 ful held in Taradale. The .Thirty 3 Thousand Club, Napier, has donated ■ six guineas for a Mardi Gras cycle 1 race and it is confidently anticipated . that the entries for the various events will lie large. The Hawke’s Bay Motor Company has intimated to the 1 committee that it will convey the Regi - mental Band to the sports free. ’ GENERAL NEWSTenders will shortly be called for the - widening of the qmin road from Tarat dale to Greenmeadows. One of the most popular resorts is the Roskilda Tea Gardens. Taradale. The proprietor (Mr. G. Brown) announces that strawberries and cream can now be procured at the refreshment rooms and that evening parties * are catered for. a splendid lawn being available for dancing purposes. On f Sundav last no fewer than 500 people - from Hastings. Napier and other parts b were served with afternoon tea.
