RATIONALIST’S ANONYMITY.
(To the Editor). Sir, —I see Mr. J. T. Fawcett takes shelter from “Rationalist” because that correspondent chooses to be anonymous; if my memory does not fail me numerous reasons in favour of a nom-de-plume were given Mr. Fawcett in the “Daily Telegraph” early in May last, one of them was a desire on the part of the writer to curry favour with no man. In yorr issue of even date Mr. Fawcett humbly submits a quantity of high-flown literature for the benefit of Mr. G. Ebbett. It may well be agreed that Mr. Ebbett’s Cenotaph speech was fine—it was fine because it was simple, sincere and unostentatious. Mr. (or Mrs) J. T. Fawcett’s effusions are obviously not entered for the simple, sincere, and unostentatious stakes be he (or she) ever so humble. —Yours faithfully t “URIAH HEEP. ’’ Hastings, 14/11/23.
