LOSS ON A BUSINESS.

There is a deficiency of £378 6/11 in the bankrupt estate of Rose Rutherford, married woman, of Hastings. The liabilities are £589 18/7 and the assets £2ll 11/8. Wilkinson £3 8/4, Joe Trueman £B5, Tribune Ltd. 7/6, Connolly Garage 6/-. Mrs. Hicks £3 10/-. In her personal statement, bankrupt said she started a business as fruiterer and confectioner in Hastings in 1919, and was very successful. She canned on like businesses in other premises in Hastings, and wa ssuccessful until she purchased a business in Hastings, in August last. The business was grossly misrepresented to her. After she took possession of the stock-in-trade, she found it mostly unsaleable and not fit for human consumption. When faced with this inevitable loss, she realised that she could not carry on and was forced into the bankruptcy court.
