BUILDING ENTERPRISE.
FARMERS’ MEAT COMPANY’S PREMISES. Building operations in connection with the new two-storey offices, to be erected for the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Meat Co., Whakatu, were commenced this morning. The building will have a frontage of 40 feet to Karamu road and adjoin the National Bank of New Zealand. The main entrance, vestibule and public space will have a rubber-tiled floor and. leading off the public space, offices will be provided for th© manager, the secretary and the accountant. An extensive general office, containing a large strongroom and a typist©’s office, will open from the public space, and a staircase will rise from the main entrance vestibule to the first floor, this portion of the building being reserved for future development. The interior of the office will l>© finished with white plaster and the ceiling with fibrous plaster. Lavatory and toilet rooms, with tiled floors and walls, will be provided for the staff, whilst the building will be heated throughout with a system of hot water radiation from a boiler room in the basement.
The frontage will be very imposing and of classic design, to be finished in white plaster. The building is being erected from the designs of Mr. H. G. Davies, architect, Hastings.
