LATE SPORTING.

NAPIER PARK RACING CLUB. AUTUMN MEETING. The autumn meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club will be held on Friday and Saturday next. This fixture is one of the most important held in Hawke’s Bay, and usually attracts the best class of horses. This year’s meeting is well up to the club’s previous high standard, and the racing on both days should provide sport .to satisfy the most fastidious racing enthusiast. Splendid acceptances have been received for the first day’s events, in each of which the winner appears to l>e well concealed by the handicapper. In the Omaranui Hurdles eleven horses have paid up and Woden (11.8) and Oak Rose (9.2) read well. In the Esk Handicap Good Sport should keep the others moving, hithough Master Beckwith and Ma Boughal are in light. The Napier Cup ,of 400 sovs., has 12 engaged, and it looks as though Orawia, Gold Light and Haurangi will be the choice of backers. Gasbag’s weight of 9.12 will probably keep him back.

The Sapling Stakes should provide a good race, with aßthos, Velvet King Pali and others engaged. Ln the Welter Blissfulness and Black Art have handy weights, and it would not be surprising to see these two going out favourites. The Maiden Hack has drawn an entry of 20 and the winner appears to be well concealed. The Redclyffe Welter., one mile, should suit Suspicion (8.6) and Koatane (8.3). Sweet Heather also reads well.

In the last race of the day, the Flying Handicap, there are some good ones engaged, including Civilform, Epitaph, Barrier and Crown Gem. This should prove an even betting race.
