The Hon. J. G. Coates. Minister of Public Works, passed through Hastings last evening by the. mail train, for Napier, en route for Wairoa. where he will attend the opening ceremony of the initial stage m the development of the Waikaremoana hydro-electric scheme. He was met by the Mayor Sir. G. A. Maddison), Mr. Gilbert cKay. M.P.. and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, -(Mr. W. C. Whitlock). He informed the Mayor, ip reply to an invitation, that he would endeavour to make time to pay a flying visit to Hastings te-day, if possible.
