The London “Daily Chronicle” states that a happy event is expected at Doom in a few months. _ The exKaiser has commenced negotiations te enable him io take possession of his villa at Corfu or at least for his bride to go there for the birth of the child. Advices from Darwin state that according to an Elcho Island message natives murdered two Japanese and three Darwin aborigines. The crews of two local luggers in the vicinity of Cape Grey and two other Japanese escaped. Shortly after th© steamer Houtman, from Singapore to Sydney left Brisbane eighteen Chines© stowaways were found secreted in the coal near one of the furnaces. The men were terribv emaciated. A further search revealed the bodies of two more, who were unable to survive their privations. Tlie Newcastle Steel Works have restarted making steel after a year’s idleness. Although they are not working at the maximum, sufficient men are employed almost to completely banish industrial depression. In a scuffle with three individuals who were attempting to break into the German Embassy at Rome, the secretary was shot in the abdomen. All three assailants were arrested. Signor Mussolini has expressed regret for the incident to the Ambassador.
