ENGLISH WOOL MARKET. (Received 20. 10.40 a.m.) London, Jan. 19. At Bradford the top-makers are very firm, but there is little actual business except in medium and low crossbreds. Sixty-fours quality 63d, fifty-sixes 30d, fifties 29d, forty-sixes 19d, forties 17d. At the opening of the Liverpool wool sales the whole offering of 20,000 bales of B.A.W.R.A. was sold. There was a large attendance and brisk competition by France, Yorkshire, and Continental buyers. Merinos advanced 5 per cent and crossbreds 10 to 15 per cent. SALE OF STUD RAMS. Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., in conjunction with Murray, Roberts and Co., report having conducted on Tuesday last a very successful sale of stud and flock Romney Marsh rams at the Palmerston North A. and P Society’s show ground on behalf of Mr. Ernest Short, Parorangu Feilding, and Mr. Norman J. Short of Waituna West. Th© rams, which were of a high order and quality, came forward in splendid condition and excited most favourable comment and keen competition from a large assembly of the public. For studs the highest price was 120 guineas, for a ram purchased by Mr. Erie Riddiford and many were disposed of at from 50 to 80 guineas. The flocks were in particularly keen demand, and sold at from 16 to 22 guineas for the best, and from 9 to 12 guineas for good quality.
