THE AMERICAN ATHLETES.

FIRST APPEARANCE AT WELLINGTON. Wellington, Jan. 5. The American athletes will make their first appearance to-morrow. They have all been practising keenly, but Karkscy, the sprinter, has unfortunately caught a cold and. may not be able to appear in more than one event. Merchant’s hammer throwing has been an eye-opener, but in other field events. Munroe is expected to hold his own with him. Another item in which there will be great interest is the meeting of Wilson and Krogness in the hurdles.
