FALL OVER A CLIFF.
DISTRESSING FATALITY AT TAURANGA.
Tauranga, Tan. 5. A distressing fatality occurred at Mount Maunganui, Tauranga’ S watering plaoe, yesterday afternoon. Two young ladies and a young man whe were bathing pulled out in dinghy to Babbit Island, a short distance from rhe beach and essayed to climb a/ precipitious cliff. Miss Winifred Halcombe, aged 17, fell a considerable distance to the rocks below and was killed. The cries of her companion. Miss Lysaght were heard by a launch party fishing m the vicinity, who rescued her by means of ropes. They also recovered Miss Halcombe’s body The town of Halcombe was named after Miss Halcombe’s late granET father.
