THE BRITISH EMBARGO. | London, Dec. 7. I Sir R. A. Sanders, President of the ' Board of Agriculture, i’i the House of ; Commons, moved the second reading of the Importation of Animals Bill, removing the embargo against Canadian catttle. . Mr Harbison, the only Nationalist i from I’kt er, moved the rejection of the i Bill on the ground that the Bill insists* on the quarantine detention of Irish cattle us well as Canadian, thus compromising free trade between Ireland and England, which was one of the fundamental principles of the recent treaty. Captain Craig ami Mr O’Connor took a similar vidw. Mr Pretyman, supporting the Bill, said the committee which inquired into the recent foot and mouth disease outbreak intended to recommend that imported cattle might ne marketed on ’ landing day, but must then be detained for six days. The rejection motion was defeated by 379 votes to 27.
