Mr J. Beaumont has been appointed secretary of the Hastings branch ot the Labourers’ Union. The Park Tennis, Club have been allowed the use of eight courts and the pavilion at Cornwall Park for £64 tor the season. ..... Shortly after 8 o’clock last evening the Napier Fire Brigade was calletl to suppress a chimney fire at Mr. F. Finch’s residence, Lawrence road. The final flying snooker tournament of the season for prizes presented by Mr J. H. Coleman was held in thej Napier Soldiers’ Club last evening, and proved most successful. There were about twenty cueists and the winner turned up in G. Aldridge, with L. JMclntosh runner-up.
