HASTINGS MUNICIPAL MATTERS.

The Hastings Borough Council got through the business of last night’s meeting in quick order, the session lasting barely sixty-five minutes in open council* There was, however, a fairly large amount of work taken in committee.

Cr. T. Clarkson brought the question of the brick area, a report on which was now being awaited, asking when it would be ready. The Mayor said that tho report would he submitted at the next meeting of the council. It would have been ready for the present meeting, only he arrived back from Wellington too late. The council returns thanks to Mrs. Cato, Messrs. Wilson. Walker and Darrick for flowers and shrubs donated to the Women’s Rest grounds. The council has received a cheque for £6 13/- from the Official Assignee in bankruptcy at Wanganui, being the first dividend of 3/6 in the £ from Lints’ bankrupt estate. The reserves caretaker reported that 1185 trees A ere planted hi the streets during the season.
