POLICE PROMOTIONS.

SUPERINTENDENT MARSACK. Wellington, Sept. 22. In consequence of the retirement of Police Superintendent McGrath, some promotions and transfers in the force are announced: — Inspector Marsack (Napier), promoted superintendent, and goes to Dunedin; Inspector Dew, at present at Invercargill, transferred to Napier; Sub-Inspector McNamara (Wellington), promoted inspector and transferred to Invecargill; SeniorSergt. Cummings (Masterton), promoted to sub-inspector and transferred to Wellington. Sergeant Sweeney (Wellington )takes charge at Masterton.
