EXPORT OF STUD STOCK.
DEMAND FROM AUSTRALIA.’ Wanganui, Sept. 23. There appears to be a steady demand in Australia for New Zealand Friesians, and just lately quite a number of pedigree animals from the North Island have been purchased by representatives of Messrs Henry Collins, of Adelaide. Among the most recent purchases were 11 heifers from Messrs Johnston Bros., of Hawera, and these were shipped to Australia yesterday. By the same boat which left Wellington, two cows, three heifers, and a yearling bull from the herd of H. R. Green, of Kairanga, were also sent to tno Adelaide breeders. The animals arc all high priced, the mature cow, Lakeside Canary Indi, realising 400 guineas, while the yearling bull, Woodcrest Dutchland of Oakview, brought 50 guineas. That South Australian breeders are continually building up their Friesian herds by drawing on New Zealand products proves that Dominion stock da well in Australia. The prospects of bigger business being don© between tho two countries in the matter of stud stock are said to be very bright.
