TENNIS.

HAWKE’S BAY ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Lawn Tennis Association was held on Saturday evening. Mr. A. I. Rainbow presided. The following delegates were present:—Messrs D. Cowan and A 1. Rainbow (Hastings), Butterfield (Waipawa), Thompson (Gisborne). Kirkpatrick (Hastings), Richards (Y.M.C.A.), H. Bradley and G. Oaklev (Hawkes Bay), G. M. Spence (Hastings), Popplewell (Hastings Park), and O’Halloran (Nelson Park). The report and balance-sheet were adopted without discussion. The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr. C. H. Cato; vice-presidents, presidents of affiliated clubs: hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. M. Spence; hon. auditor, Mr. C Thompson ; delegates to New Zealand L.T.A., Messrs Grady and Fair. It was decided that in view of the fai t that the New Zealand Lewn Tennis championships will be held at Hastings, meeting of the H.B.L.T.A. will this year, be held at Hastings. The Nelson Park Club, Napier, was affiliated to the association. The oompetaitions for the Neal and Close Cup niatcFes were discussed and Messrs Cowan. Oakley, Thompson and Popplewell were appointed to go into the matter of holding competitions all in one round to extend over two or more days. This would relieve the various club courts of tho matches interfering with Saturday play. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring secretary, Mr. A. J.
