STRONG TALK BY PARSON.
The Rev. W. J. Cornelius, vicar of All Saints, North Peckham, writing in the South London Press produces some irrefutable evidence, backed up bv strong personal condemnation of Prohibition: “Turning to large centres in the U.S.A, we notice Boston, with its population of 748,000, had 16.487 arrests for drunkenness during the last year the Board of Prohibition issued figures.” This, by the way, is about twice the number of arrests made in the whole of New Zealand last year, while Boston has only halt the population of New Zealand. “No,” continues the Rev. Cornelius, “facts and figures still convince me that Prohibition will not do for a lib-erty-loving nation like ours, and in the U.S.A, there are abundant proofs that it is a gigantic failure, and produces many terrible evils in the character and habits of the people.” These statements by a responsible member of the cloth are a strong warning. Vote Continuance, and maintain New Zealand’s name for being a well-behaved, prosperous country. *
