The death is announced of Mr. Thomas Martin Murphy, brother Mr. J. C. Murphy, of Hastings, which took place at' Wellington yesterday. Deceased was at one time employed on the “Hawke’s Bay Herald” as a printer, and he was later foreman printer on the Napier “Daily Telegraph,” and subsequently ou the Napier “Evening News,” which ceased publication many years ago. He then went into the service of the Government printing office at Wellington, where he was employed until his retirement on superannuation about 12 months ago. Deceased was 73 years of age. A meeting or settlers in the county desirous of being connected with the Havelock North light and power system was held recently, with the result that each district appointed a representative to organise. Mr. G. F. Roach was appointed representative for the Clive Grange district, exteua; ing along the east side of the Tuki Tuki river, from near Havelock North to, and including Haumpana. It is Mr. Roach’s intention to convene a meeting of all property owners in that district on a date to be advertised, to discuss the question of signing a petition requesting connection with the Havelock North hydro-electric scheme
