LIMIT OF TAXATION REACHED. AU D ITO lUG EN ER AL’ S WA R N ING. (Received 22, 12.5 p.m.) Sydney, September 22. The Auditor-General has issued a warning to the Government, calling attention to the grave financial situation, and making reference to the increasing interest bill, which had jumped from £3,500,000 to £7,747,000 within the past ten years. He also points out that the measurable limit of taxation has been reached, and that the State is suffering from the effect of over-taxation,—(A. and N.Z.)
