HASTINGS FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

ROYAL ARCH CHAPTER U.A.O.D. The above Chapter held its monthly meeting on Wednesday evening last in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hastings. Bro. Lambert, Royal Arch-Druid, presided over a large number of brethren from Napier and Hastings. In view of the coming election and also the coming ritual competition on October 3rd, the competition ceremony was gone through with as a test, Bros. Poiriton and Cuttie acting as judges. The officers who took part were R A.D. Bro. C. Bishop (Hastings), R.V.A. Bro. Skews (Napier), R.A. Sec. B. A. C. Johnston (Hastings), R.P.A. Bro. Dalbel (Napier). At the conclusion of the ceremony the judges gave some very valuable information in their criticism, which must prove very beneficial to all concerned. At the same time they congratulated the officers on their very fine performance. The Albion Lodge (Napier) were granted a substitute in the event of one of their officers not being available on October 3rd. A general discussion on Druidical affairs and the management of lodges took place, proving very interesting and constructive, after which the Chapter was closed at 10 p.m. EUREKA LODGE DRUIDS. The above lodge held its usual meeting in the Oddfellows’ Hall on September 19th, there being a good attendance of members. Three candidates were initiated into the order. Notification was received thafc September 26th was acceptable to the Loyal Hastings Lodge for the euchre tournament. Final arrangements were made for the shield competitio non October 3rd. It was decided to entertain the visiting officers. The secretary was instructed to write to all older members inviting them to attend. One friend was proposed. The secretary was instructed to advise members when the church parade would take place. A discussion took place as to the advisability of insuring lodge property, and it was decided to have all lodge property iir su red.
