ANTARCTIC SEAS.

THE QUEST'S EXPLORATION. SCIENTIFIC WORK ACCOMPLISHED London, Sept. 18. Captain Wild states that the Quest carried out a tremendous amount of solid scientific work, including map of Gough Island, correcting important deails m the existing map. They discovered on Gough Isiand an entirely new bird resembling the finch, and a new tree like the acacia. Meteorological observations are likely to be of the greatest value. When the Quest was enclosed in the pack ice she heard wireless reports from San Francisco and Nauen, and once heard Greenwich time sent out from Rio Janqiro, which was invaluable for observations. Though lively, the ship Quest was eminently seaworthy and fast sailing, but the remarks ofthe crew about her engines are unprintable.—(‘ 4 Times.' ’)
