AMERICAN AWAKENING. TO HUAIANITARIAN DUTIES. Washington, Sept. 16. In the House of Representatives Mr Britten, to ho formerly opposed the League of Nations, introduced a resolution i equesting President Harding in the interests of world peace and in dustry, to take such steps as he deems advisable for bringing about the reestablishment of political and induetrial peace. Mr. Britten declares that the time appears propitious for the reconsider ation of the Treaty of Versailles and reparations questions, and that it is apparent the United States Govecq ment should not hold itself aloof anti! called upon by European Governments. It is understood the United States will reject Soviet Russia’s proposal for negotiations for the resumption of relations contained in a Note to the American Ambassador at Berlin.—(A. and N.Z.)
