UNITED CRICKET CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the United Cricket Club was held in Napier last evening. Mr E. H. Williams presided port disclosed a very ' The annual report disclosed a very satisfactory season last year, the club winning the senior championship, and the junior team being placed third in that competition, financial position of the club was a sound one. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mr E. H. Willfams congratulated the club on winning the senior cup. He was always pleased to see his old club do well. He was instrumental years ago in having the United Club formed. He felt sure the great success the club had achieved was due to the excellent captaincy of Mr J. Hindmarsh, whom he hoped would bo spared for many years yet to lead the club to victory. Referring to the possibility of a change in the senior ‘ championship, Mr Williams said that ‘ experience had told them that too many senior teams militated against good cricket. He thought the number should be lessened. In contusion ho wished the club every success, and hoped that in the years to come they would enjoy further championship honours. The motion was seconded by Mr J. Hindmarsh and carried. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr E. H. Williams. Members expressed their appreciation of all that Mr Williams had done for thdm ,and felt proud that they had such a fine sport, as their president. Vice-presidents, Messrs J. I. Cato, J. Hindmarsh (sen) and H. B. Lusk (re-elected); captain, Mr J. St. J. Hindmarsh; vice-captain, MF R. Bishop; secretary and treasurer, Mr O. N. Hallett; recording secretary, Mr C. Roy Spackman; committee, Messrs R. M. Chadwick, W. Love and C. Moore and ex-officio members; selection committee , captain, vice-captain and C. Roy Spackman; delegates to Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association, Messrs J. St. J. Hindmarsh and R. Bishop; delegates to Junior Advisory Board, Messrs J. Nelson and E. Wilmer; auditor, Mr J. St. J. Hindmarsh. Mr Hindmarsh expressed thanks to Mr Love, the club’s custodian, for the manner in which he attended to the material during last season. He had kept it in good order, and had done ■work which would enable the club to start off the season in a good posit |n. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Love for his services. Messrs Love and Bickerstaff were appointed custodians for the coming season. Several new members were elected.
