HOCKEY.

WAIPUKURAU 7-A-SLDE TOURNAMENT. At a public meeting, held in the Social Hall last evening, to consider the holding of a men’s soven-a-side tournament. The following were present: — The Mayor (Mr E. A. Goodger), Messrs Staines (2), Peters, Haycock, Davidson, Fox, Stowe, Arthur, Hewitson and Hayward. It was proposed by Mr Peters and seconded by Mr Davidson that proceeds be handed over to the Borough Council with a request that it be used for the paddling pool. It was also resolved that a men’s seven-a-side hockey tournament be held on the 7th October 'for the Staines’ Cup; that nominations close with the secretary at 8 p.m. on 4th October, and ii possible arrangements made that all teams meet; that there be no charge for nomination, and that all players pay at the gate; that all present be on the committee to run a seven-a-side tournament with pow’er to add; that application be made to the Borough Council for use of ground and permission to charge entrance; that Mr Gay be asked to act as timekeeper and Mr Mathieson be asked to take thq tickets at the gate; that the charge for admission be: Adults Is and children half price.
