For medium and low crossbreds there was keen competition and full prices were realis- , ed.—(A. and N.Z.) TALLOW. London, Sept. 13. Tallow : 1786 casks were offered and 1314 sold at par to 6d decline. Mutton 40/6 to 35/-; beef 41/- to 35/-. —(A. and N.Z.) INDIAN TEA. Calcutta, Sept. 13. At the tea sales the quality of the offerings was generally lower but inuiries for good classes were active. Prices were steady for other classes. There was a distinct drop in values, ranging from a half to IV.—(A. and N.Z.) TALLOW. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Napier, have received the following cable from their head office, London, dated 13th September, 1922:—Tallow: 1780 casks of tallow were offered at auction and 1150 sold. Since our last wire good colour mixed and beef unchanged. Other descriptions 3d to 5d lower. LONGLANDS STOCK SALE. Messrs Hoadley, Son and Stewart, Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Longlands saleyards yesterday. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 9th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — MEAT. More buyers than sellers for mutton and prices have slightly advanced. Demand for lamb exceeds the supply and prices are somewhat firmer. Beef in small supply New Zealand mutton: Lightweight 7d to Bd, medium 6 3-8 d to 6 7-Bd, heavyweight 5Jd to 6|d; ewes 4|d to New Zealand lamb: Best quality lightweight lid toll 5-Bd, medium lid to 11 3-Bd, heavyweight lOd, ordinary lid, second-class quality lid. New Zealand beef : Ox hinds 4Jd, lores 3 l-Bd. Chilled beef: Hinds fores 3}d. BUTTER. Market firmer. Present selling price of New Zealand salted is about 214/per cwt. Danish market very quiet owing to high prices asked. Official quotations are:—New Zealand, salted 212/t to 216/- per cwt, unsalted 224/per cwt. ; Australian, salted 204/- to 206 - per cwt. Argentine, 206/- to <212/- per cwt. ; Irish, salted 198/to 202/- up to 204/- per cwt, unsalted 206/- to 210/- per cwt. ; Danish, 220 - per'cwt.: French, 206/- to 216/- per cwt. CHEESE. Market firmer on account of light supplies, specially New Zealand. Official quotations are:—English, finest farmers’ 108/- to 112,- per cwt. Canadian, coloured 84/- to 90/- per cwt., wliite 88/- to 92 - per cwt New Zealand, coloured 84S to 88/- per cwt, white 88/- to 92/- per cwt. The s.s. Port Kembla is discharging New Zealand produce this week. WOOL. Sales continue well attended with competition brisk for merino, fine and medium crossbred at hardening rates. Coarse crossbred selling freely but not quotably higher. Scoured crossbred occasionally irregular. Slipe in good request.
