HAUMOANA.
(Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Haumoana Beach Improvement Committee ' was held at the residence of Mr. D. H. Mills on Wednesday evening. Pre- > sent: Messrs. G. E. Roach (chairman), D. H. Mills, H. Taylor. T. A. Smith, A. 0. Welluood, J. Gerard. W. Koeng, T. Ritchie, J. T. Blake, J. J. Rathie (county councillor), H. K. Thomson, and E. Webster (secretary). I Ihe various committees reported on the work dune during the past month, ' and votes of Mianks were passed to Messrs. Kummer, Doubleday. Wilson, , Anderson, Simmonds and Co., and Walker* for donations of seedlings, which have baen planted in Blake Reserve, also to Mr. A. W. Parkinson tor a gate for the same reserve, A sub-committee was formed to rej port ou the costt of erecting a foot- . bridge over the lagoon in continuation of the main road leading to the beach. The chairman announced that a sum had been collected from several owners 1 towards the proposal and the counuiti tee was asked to assist. Ur. Rathie agreed to expedite the widening of the present road giving ( access to the beach, also to procure > metal for the right-of-way leading from the plantation sections to the ’ main street. 1 The meeting decided to organise a working bee on Labour Day, to complete works now in progress. The chairman and secretary were empowered to further pursue the matter i of connecting the resort with the Havelock North electrical supply, and ■ report to next meeting. ) it was decided to name the recreation reserve the “Nurse Cavell Park,” “ in honour of the noble work done by , the nurses during the late war.
