BOXING.

McCLEARY—McQUARRIE DECISION. Dunedin, Sept. 14. At a special meeting of the Otago Boxing Association, held this evening, the following resolution was carried:— That after hearing the opinions of Messrs. W. G. Hay and G. B. Callan, which entirely agree with the opinion of our own solicitor. Mr. B. S. Irwin, this committee is of opinion that the New Zealand Boxing Association had no jurisdiction to come to the decision it did in the McCleary-McQuarrie contest for the heavyweight championship of New Zealand, and with a view to removing any possibility of friction between the council and this committee, the council be respectfully requested to reconsider its decision.
