KENNEDY’S GREAT RECORD. (Received 13. 9.45 a.m.) London, Sept. 12. Kennedy, the Hampshire professional as well as taking 200 wickets, scored over 1000 runs. Albert Trott and Hirst, the famous Yorkshire players, are the only other cricketers who have accomplished a similar feat.—(A. and N.Z.) Thornton’s eleven scored 407 for seven wickets against the Marylebone Club’s team to visit South Africa. (Sutcliffe 111, Ashton 95. Hendren 105). The latter completed 2000 runs for the season. Hendren and Ashton added 174 for the fifth wicket in two hours. Kennedy, the Hampshire bowler, has performed the unique feat of capturing 200 wickets. —(A. and N.Z.) ST. MATTHEW’S (HASTINGS) CLUB The annual meeting of St. Matthew’s Cricket Club was held in Hastings last night, Mr. C. H. Heald presiding over a good attendance. The report stated that last season all the teams acquitted themselves with credit, the senior finishing third in their competition and the junior: second in the junior competition. The attendance at practice was not very well maintained towards the end of the season, but the committee* hoped that there would be an improvement in this respect in the coming season, as it was only by practising assiduously that progress could be made. Regret was expressed at Ike loss of the club’s able and energetic captain, Mr. J. L. Paterson, who moved to Auckland when the season was half through. The balance-sheet showed a credit of 2s Bd. The assets amounted to £lB 7s 6d, and the liabilities £1 10s. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. Wells; president, Rev. R. T. Hall; vice-presidents, Messrs S. J. Heighway, R. Paul, D. J. McLeod. E. J. W. Hallett, D. F. Scannell; E. C. Woodward and J. Collinge, jun; club captain, Mr M. Cohen; secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. G. Davis; management committee, Messrs C. H. Heald, G. Miller, L. Scott, H.

Blewett, J. Campbell, together with the club captain anti secretary; delegates to H.B. Cricket Association, Messrs C. H. Heald and D. G. Davis; delegates to Hastings Junior Sub-As-sociation, Messrs H. Blewett and C. Watkins; senior selection committee, the club captain, Messrs D. G. Davis and G. Miller; junior selection committee to be elected by junior players’ custodians, L. Scott sen., H. Blewett junior. The subscription was fixed at 30s for senior players, 15s for junior players over 21. and 10s for junior players under 21. Five new members were elected.
