MARAEKAKAHO.

(Own Correspondent.) The concert and dance in aid of the Alaraekakaho Rifle Club was held in the hall last Friday night, there being about 200 present. A party of Hastings ladies and gentlemen supplied the concert programme, including orchestral items by Messrs Kitchen, Cameron, Knox, Bryant, Lynch and Armstrong, with Miss AlcNab at the piano. Airs Burton very sweetly rendered a couple of solos. Air Peck gave some humorous recitations and led the community singing, which was entered into heartily by the audience. Air W. Cameron, in a humorous song and character sketches, was very much enjoyed. Air Knox, with bis mandoline, captivated the audiqnce, and had to respond to encores. Mr Bryant, euphonium soloist, gave a splendid exhibition of artistic playing an<? was heartily applauded. Misses AlcNab and Brooks very ably accompanied the performers. Captain McLean, in a neat little speech, thanked the performers for the enjoyable programme, which he said was most heartily enjoyed by all present. A dainty supper was provided by a committee of ladies. Dancing then commenced, and Afiss AfcNab presided at the piano, assisted during the evening by members of the orchestra. Some very charming frocks were worn, and a happy evening terminated at 2 0 ’clock.
