LAWN TENNIS.
AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Received 12, 12.45 p.m.) New York, Sept. 11. Anderson defeated Lucien Williams, an inter-collegiate champion, 6—4, 6— 2, 6—4. Patterson defeated Ingraham, 6—3, 6—3, 7 —5. Ingraham played brilliant tennis. Taking the lead early he won both the second and third sets, but Patterson’s superior steadiness told. The Anderson-Williams match was a fine exhibition. Anderson’s superior placing and speed tired his opponent.— (A. and N.Z.)
