Clemenceau intends to tour America, explaining “ p]>e rights and duties of each nation in the world crisis, where the same victory made all the Allies solidly responsible for the future,” has created the greatest interest, and shows that Al. Clemenceau, alter a three years’ retirement, intends to return to the public life of France. It is believed Al. Clemenceau is actuated by the announcement that in the matter of solidarity in the war giving his version of the momentous events; also by Al. Poincare’s unsuccess! ul handling of the delicate European situation. Al. Clemenceau’s return is regarded as big with possibilities for Europe. Al. Clemenceau’s visit to America has briought him a telegram from America, saying: — “You seem to consider America lacking in solidarity with the Allies. We would be glad if you would say if you think that.” Al. Clemenceau replied :— “I consider America did her duty in the matter of solidarity in the war, but peace, being the end of war, the duties of solidarity are not exhausted by a settlement upon conditions from which one party- can dissociate itself. I believe that if solidarity had been maintained between America. France 11 nd England, the present crisis would have been avoided, and can now only lie dissipated by a resumpton of solidarity. 1 go to America before the end of the year to make a public explanation.” —(A. and N.Z.)
