NEW RULES ADOPTED.

The annual meeting of the Rugby Union disclosed healthy prospects. The hope was expressed that a Maori team would visit Australia during the ensuing season.
Nine clubs arc participating in first grade competitions, seven district, one University, and on Old Boy’s Club.
Two innovations have been adopted, the kicking into touch rule used in Auckland and the appointment Of timekeepers to relieve the referee of the responsibility.—(A. und N.Z.)
