MANAWATU RACES
Palmerston North, April 3. The first day of the Manawatu races is being held in fine, but threatening weather. The attendance is good and the course rather holding. Results:—
Autumn Plate.—Bonnie Nurse J, Good Mark 2, Martella 3. Scr: Mangan. Won by a length. Timo 1.32
Hurdles. —Wamba 1, No Bother 2, Old Gold 3. All started. Won by a head, a length and a-half separating second and third horses. Time 3.15.
Prince of Wales’ Handicap.—Detroit I, Volo 2, Paoanui 3. Sir: Martial Dawn, Strategy and Little River. Won by a short neck, a length and a-half separating second and third horses. Time 1.58.
Sires’ Produce Stakes.—The Dunce 1, Peneus 2, King’s Trumpeter 3. Scr: Mountain-Lion, Epitaph, Moorland and Menthe. Won by a length, a half a length separating second and third horses. Time 1.16 2-5.
