NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT.
YESTERDAY’S PLAY. The East Coast Centre’s New Year bowling tournament was continued yesterday, when the remaining four games were played. 'Great interest was taken in the various games, thi play all round being exceptional!; good. Bewley (Hastings) who secured six wins in section C was disqualified owing to using unstamped bowls.. The result of the disqualification brought the rinks skipped by Wrightson (Port) and Mills (Waipawa) into the running. The incident was unfortunate for Bewley, but the committee had no option in the matter. The tournament arrangements were excellently carried out. reflecting much credit on the capable secretary (Mr. P. Bear). Following are the results of yesterday’s games — SECTION A. Third Round. The eliminating matches, in the bowling carnival were favoured by fine weather and interesting play. In the finals thepe is promise of some keen contests. z The Australasian Bowling Council held a meeting which approved of sending a team to England and arranged details for the next Australasian carnival, fixed at Perth for Easter, 1924, instead of 1923, as previously arranged.—(A. and N.Z.)
